UPDATE 3: Impact of Heavy Rainfall in George Municipal Area

The Gwaing Landfill Site situated at R102 Airport Road remains closed

Mop-up operations continue in George following floods in parts of George that were caused by the torrential downpours overnight. Wet and cold conditions will persist over the next few days but no further extreme rainfall is expected only intermittent drizzles. The weather should clear by this weekend.

Wilderness – Die Vleie remains closed due to water levels

We continue to urge motorists to drive with caution during wet conditions.

Areas flooded
Residents evacuated from Blanco have returned to their homes.
Uniondale residents who were accommodated in the Lyonville Community Hall have been assisted by family.

Disruption to Service Delivery
The Gwaing Landfill Site situated at R102 Airport Road remains closed, due to the inclement weather and updated notices will be issued when conditions allow for it to be reopened.
