UNPLANNED POWER OUTAGE

The George Municipality wishes to inform residents of an unplanned power outage currently affecting the Airport Line, Gwaying, and Herolds Bay farms.

An electrician has been dispatched to investigate the cause of the outage, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

Fire Safety Alert: No Controlled Burns Allowed Today Due to Hot Weather Conditions

Due to the predicted hot weather conditions in George and surrounds today, the public is urged to exercise extreme caution when making fires or discarding cigarettes or matches.
No controlled burns are permitted under these conditions.

Temporary closure of Environmental Services for fumigation

Please take note that the Environmental Services offices, located at 82 Meade Street, will be closed to the public from 15:30 on Tuesday, 29 July 2025, to allow for scheduled fumigation.
This routine intervention forms part of the Municipality’s ongoing efforts to maintain a clean, healthy, and safe environment for both employees and the public.
The office will reopen on Wednesday, 30 July 2025, during normal business hours.
Appropriate notices will be displayed at the premises to notify the public of the temporary closure.
