As a result of lower than anticipated demand and sustained improved generation performance, loadshedding will continue to be suspended until 16:00 on Sunday. Thereafter, Stage 2 loadshedding will resume from 16:00 on Sunday until 05:00 on Monday. Eskom will communicate should any significant changes occur.

ROTATIONAL SWITCH ON AFTER LOADSHEDDING – reduce power to avoid network tripping

Consumers are reminded to PLEASE use electricity sparingly after power returns. Please do not switch high-usage equipment on immediately after Load shedding.

Consumers are urged to turn off high-usage equipment and where possible to not switch on appliances such as stoves and kettles for at least 30 minutes after load shedding is scheduled to return. This will reduce the risk of overload tripping on the network.

Reporting power outages
Please do not phone the after-hours number or the Electrotechnical Department to report that you have no power immediately after load shedding is scheduled to be lifted. Please be aware of the rotational switching on i.e. areas are switched on one by one and not all at the same time to avoid overloading the system. Please wait at least 30 minutes before reporting no power. The Electrotechnical Directorate will be aware of a possible substation trip that needs to be sorted out.

Water supply to the corner of Foundry Str and Fichat Str, in George Industrial has now been restored.

Water supply has been interrupted at the corner of Foundry Str and Fichat Str, George Industrial due to a pipe burst, at RAW Steel.

The estimated time of repair is 5-6 hours. A water truck is en-route.

Power supply to the effected Pacaltsdorp areas has been
restored.

The George Municipality thanks residents for their patience.

Due to the sustained improved performance of generation availability as well as the anticipated lower demand over the weekend, loadshedding will be suspended between 05:00 and 16:00 on Saturday and Sunday.

Stage 2 loadshedding will be implemented from 16:00 until 05:00 on both Saturday and Sunday. Today, as previously communicated, Stage 3 loadshedding will continue to be implemented from 16:00 until 05:00 on Saturday.

Kennis geskied hiermee ingevolge Artikel 28 van die Wet op Plaaslike Regering: Munisipale Finansiële Bestuur, 2003 (Wet no.56 van 2003) en Artikel 23 van die Munisipale Begrotings en Verslagdoening Regulasies 2008 onderskeidelik, dat die Aansuiweringsbegroting goedgekeur is tydens die Raadsvergadering van 28 September 2023.

Die dokument sal beskikbaar wees vir publieke inspeksie op die munisipale webtuiste, www.george.gov.za, 5 Oktober 2023.

2023/24 FINANCIAL YEAR

ADJUSTMENT BUDGET 28 SEPTEMBER 2023

Notice is hereby given in terms of Section 28 of the Local Government: Municipal Finance Management Act, 2003 (Act no.56 of 2003) and Section 23 of the Municipal Budgets and Reporting Regulations 2008 respectively, that the Adjustment Budget was approved during the Council meeting held on 28 September 2023.

This document will be available for public inspection and comments on the municipal website www.george.gov.za,  from 5 October 2023.

Members of the public are invited to submit written comments or representations to the municipality in respect of this document. All comments and inputs must be directed to “The Municipal Manager, George Municipality, 71 York Street, George 6530”.
