NOTIFICATION OF THE INTERRUPTION OF THE ELECTRICITY SUPPLY.

THE FOLLOWING AREAS WILL BE AFFECTED: PORTION OF DENNEOORD, STEENBOK STREET & 6TH AVENUE

NOTICE is hereby given that the electricity supply will be interrupted on MONDAY 27 NOVEMBER 2023 FROM 09H00 TO 16H30 for the purpose of doing alterations to the electrical mains. Consumers are warned to treat the installation as being live for the full duration as the supply may be resumed anytime within the notified period.

Should circumstances prevent the work from being carried out during the abovementioned period; the work will be done on
MONDAY 04 DECEMBER 2023 FROM 09H00 TO 16H30

Update: Water Outage, Lyonville

Loadshedding has caused levels in Lyonville reservoir to fall due to a lack of power for the pumps. The reservoir is closed to build-up levels. Residents may expect to lose water shortly.

Residents are urged to use available water sparingly. A water tanker will be roaming in the area.

George Municipality is aware of the brownish-coloured water in Lyonville and municipal teams are still on site to resolve the problem. It is necessary that the Lyonville reservoir be shut down in order to refill the reservoir and clear the brown water. Residents may expect to lose water shortly.

Residents are urged to use available water sparingly. A water tanker will be roaming in the area.

We would like to urge residents to please report any discoloration of water in the Uniondale, Lyonville area to,

Closure of George Municipal offices on 15, 25/26 December 2023 and 1 January 2024

The George Municipality will close its offices on the 15, 25 and 26 December 2023 and 1 January 2024 for Public Holidays. All Emergency personnel and other essential services will be on standby during the public holidays and the Municipality will be operational during the festive season on all other working days.

Meter readings
Residents who have not had a SMART Water Meter installed yet will have their meter read every month, or can submit a reading via email or via the My Smart City – George App.

Submit your meter reading by email to meterreadings@george.gov.za
Include the accountholder’s name, contact details and George Municipal account number, date of reading and attach photo of meter. Please note that meter readings are done per area at different times of the month, and it is important that your meter reading email is submitted around the same time as your area’s reading time. Please check the date of the previous reading at the bottom of your account to determine your meter reading slot.

ESKOM Load Shedding Update: 22 November 2023 @07:35

 

Due to insufficient emergency reserves and generation capacity as a result of four units not returning to service as planned, Stage 4 load shedding was implemented this morning at 02:31 until further notice.

Eskom will monitor the system and communicate should any significant changes occur.

Update on Low Pressure & Water Outage: Water has been Restored

The Eskom Potable Water Storage Reservoir is still experiencing low water supply levels.

Municipal teams have investigated the system. The pump delivery was identified as a probable fault. New impellers were ordered and are expected on Thursday. In the interim network adjustments were made to support the area. Maitland Street, Kerriwood Hills Estate, and Mont Fleur Estate have been restored.

Residents of Blanco and surrounding areas are urged to continue using water sparingly to allow the reservoir to build up reserves.

A standpipe is installed on the corner of Searle and Gousblom Street to cater to residents without water.

Residents are requested to report further water outages in Blanco to the after-hours number 044 801 6300.
