PLANNED INTERRUPTION OF THE ELECTRICITY SUPPLY – PORTION OF THEMBALETHU

NOTICE is hereby given that the electricity supply will be interrupted on TUESDAY 13 DECEMBER 2022 FROM 08H00 TO 14H00 for the purpose of doing alterations to the electrical mains. Consumers are warned to treat the installation as being live for the full duration as the supply may be resumed at any time within the notified period.

Should circumstances prevent the work being carried out during the abovementioned period; the work will be done on WEDNESDAY 14 DECEMBER 2022 FROM 08H00 TO 14H00.

Water trucks have been withdrawn from supplying water to Denneoord. Water supply has been restored to all areas of Denneoord. Residents are urged to use water sparingly.

WATER SUPPLY NETWORKS FILLED WITH POTABLE WATER – PLEASE USE WATER SPARINGLY

Residents and businesses that did not have running water from their taps, who may have left the taps open to remove air from water pipes, must please close their taps to avoid the wastage of water.

The Civil Engineering Department confirmed that the water networks are relatively filled with water and should be able to supply potable water in all areas in George. Citizens are urged to continue using water sparingly. Water shortage-related queries over the weekend can be reported to the AFTER HOURS AND EMERGENCIES contact number: 044 801 6300.

Loadshedding is currently being implemented at Stage 5 until 05:00 on Saturday morning. Stage 4 load-shedding will be implemented from 05:00 on Saturday morning until 05:00 on Sunday morning. Loadshedding will then be reduced to Stage 2 at 05:00 on Sunday until 05:00 on Monday morning. Eskom will publish a further update as soon as there are any significant changes.

Consumers are reminded to use electricity sparingly especially when power returns after load shedding. This will reduce the risk of overload tripping on the network. Consumers are requested, where possible to not switch on appliances such as stoves and kettles for at least 30 minutes after load shedding.

WATER TRUCKS ARE BEING DEPLOYED TO LOW WATER & NO WATER PRESSURE AREAS IN DENNEOORD / CAMPHERSDRIFT

Information about low to no water pressure in the Denneoord/Camphersdrift areas water trucks are stationed at the following points:

• At Spar in Wellington Str – Stationed
• Denneoord Superette at the top of Wellington Str

The trucks have already been dispatched at the above points, and will be stationed there until 20:00 tonight.

GWAING RIVER MOUTH BEACH RE-OPENED TO THE PUBLIC

The Community Services Department confirmed that it is safe to swim at Gwaing. The Gwaing River Beach Mouth is there open to the public.

George libraries have been impacted by technical issues affecting all non-metro libraries throughout the entire Western Cape. The Sita Library and Information Management System (SLIMS) has been unavailable since 15 November. The impact on service delivery to library users is highly regrettable. All of the George public libraries remain open and will going forward implement manual procedures for the issue and return of books. Internet, WI-FI facilities and the inhouse use of the libraries remain available to all patrons.

Audio and eBooks are available from your local library for free! Libby is the newer library reading app by Overdrive. Patrons are required to download the APP from their play store or via the website link. The patron searches for their local library and is able to browse the collection of Audio and eBooks and make a selection.
