Please be advised that the NATIS System and LEU (eye testing machines) are operational again at the Driving Licence Testing Centre (DLTC) in Pacaltsdorp. All licence renewals and eye testing services are going ahead.

PLEASE NOTE PEOPLE ARE CURRENTLY QUEUING FOR SERVICES.

We apologise for the inconvenience caused which was out of our control.

FRAMEWORK 2022/2023 to 2024/2025
Notice is hereby given in terms of the Local Government: Municipal Finance
Management Act (MFMA), 2003 (Act 56 of 2003), that the Final Three-Year Budget
for 2022/2023 to 2024/2025 of the George Municipality has been adopted by Council
on 30 May 2022.

FINAL INTEGRATED DEVELOPMENT PLAN (IDP) 2022
Notice is hereby given, in terms of section 25(3) of the Municipal Systems Act that
George Municipality’s Integrated Development Plan (IDP) was adopted by Council
on 30 May 2022.

Due to the current threat of the COVID-19 pandemic, hard copies can unfortunately
not be made available to the public at traditional strategic points across town. The

LANDFILL SITE FIRE UPDATE: No active flames on the premises anymore but there is still smoke.

George Municipality is still using an excavator to smother any possible smouldering patches and this causes more smoke. Grey water is being used to cool down the area.

Dumping of waste is still allowed at the landfill site and the site is fully open. The Municipality is allowing all vehicles on the landfill.

The Fire Department resumed this morning with the extinguishing the fire at the landfill site using a bulldozer, excavator, and tanker engines.
 
Dumping of waste is still allowed at the landfill site. The Municipality is allowing all vehicles on the landfill. There is an arrangement for designated areas where green waste, builders’ rubble, mixed waste, and wood can be offloaded.

WATER SUPPLY INTERRUPTION DUE TO MAINTENANCE

The Civil Engineering Services (Water) will be doing maintenance work in Tabata 1, changing valves and also the replacement of the flow meter on Tuesday the 07 June 2022 from 9:00 till 14:00.

The affected area will be Zone 6.

Three (3) Water trucks will be roaming the following areas in Zone 6 with intervals 0f 45min per station:
• Thembalethu Primary School
• Silver town
• Ramaphosa
• Asazani
• Roman Catholic Church

LANDFILL SITE FIRE UPDATE: firefighting continues at the landfill site

The Fire Department continues to extinguish the fire at the landfill site using a bulldozer, excavator, and tanker engines. The firefighting team will continue to monitor the situation tonight and resume tomorrow (Saturday).

The firefighters are also attending to other smaller veld fires in Pacaltsdorp and Syferfontein areas.

NATIS SYSTEM DOWN

Please be advised that the NATIS System is extremely slow. The Motor Vehicle Registration (MVR) and Driving Licence Testing Centre (DLTC) are unable to process licence renewals and eye testing services for the remainder of the day today, Friday, 3 June 2022.

LANDFILL SITE FIRE UPDATE: A designated area identified for dropping off of waste and firefighting continues

The Municipality is allowing all vehicles on the landfill. There is an arrangement for designated areas where green waste, builders’ rubble, mixed waste, and wood can be offloaded.

Great advancement was made in some areas of the fire area since yesterday. The fire still continues on the dangerous edge. The Fire Department has been monitoring the situation through the night last night and excavator work continues. A bulldozer, excavator and 7000l water truck are on site.
