PUBLIC PARTICIPATION PROCESS ON THE WSDP

Notice is hereby given in terms of the Water Services (Act 108 of 1997) that all water services authorities are required to prepare a Water Services Development Plan (WSDP)

The WSDP is a business plan setting out the way in which the water services authority plans to deliver water services to individuals and businesses in its area of jurisdiction. It must also describe the current and future consumer profile, the type of services which are provided, the infrastructure requirements, a water balance, organisational and financial arrangements to be used, assessments of the viability of the approach, and an overview of environmental issues.

Following these analyses, important issues that may impact on the provision of effective and sustainable water and sanitation services need to be identified and strategies must be formulated to improve service provision.

The Executive Summary, the Full Document or the Chapters of the Draft WSDP can be viewed or downloaded at:

https://www.george.gov.za/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/WSDP_IDPWaterSectorInputReport_George-A4.pdf

Full particulars of the proposed WSDP are available for inspection at the following places:

  • Municipal offices: c/o York and Market Street, George
  • George Library
  • Blanco Library
  • Conville Library
  • Pacaltsdorp Library
  • Thembalethu Library

Please forward your comments and suggestions before 16 July 2022 to PO Box 19, George, 6530 or to fabrahams@george.gov.za
