RESERVOIRS are recovering well but the situation remains critical – WATER BALANCING REMAINS IN PLACE

RESERVOIRS are recovering well but the situation remains critical
– WATER BALANCING REMAINS IN PLACE

George Municipality, 28 November @ 11H00

George Municipality urgently appeal to the residents of George to USE WATER SPARINGLY and ONLY FOR BASIC NECESSITIES. Average consumption has not reduced at all and is closer to the highest averages measured in a normal month.
Without the assistance of everyone, water balancing will have to continue for a longer period until normal balance can be achieved.

We plead with the public to avoid using too much water during peak times. Peak times are between 07h00 – 09h00 in the morning, 12h00 to 14h00 and 17h00 to 20h00.
We thank the members of the public who have been cooperating thus far, but without everyone’s help, the network will take even longer to stabilise.

We’re aware of Parkdene, Ballotsview, Lawaaikamp, Borcherds, Conville and Convent Gardens being without water, trucks are positioned at the following addresses:

Conville – c/o Korhaan and Peddie Muller
Convent Garden – c/o Muller / Canary str
Borchards – c/o De Beer and Versveld Street (opposite Heidedal Primary)
Lawaaikamp -c/o Vuyani Ncamazana / Melford Notshokovu str
Also a truck at Bethesda
Lawaaikamp Community Hall
Borchards – c/o Nelson Mandela Blvd and Thomas str
Parkdene c/o Ballot and Snake Street

The Civil Engineering Services Department will continue to monitor until the reservoirs have recovered enough before opening full network again.
NOTE: Thembalethu, Pacaltsdorp, Herold’s Bay and Oubaai have sufficient water reserves not to require water tankers.

PLEASE report EMERGENCIES ONLY to 044 801 9111 until Telkom can restore other lines.

RESERVOIRS are recovering slowly but the situation remains critical
– WATER BALANCING REMAINS IN PLACE

George Municipality, 27 November @ 20h00

Yesterday afternoon the George Municipality was compelled to implement rebalancing of the water system.

George Municipality continues to appeal to the residents of George to USE WATER SPARINGLY and ONLY FOR NECESSITIES – the RESERVOIRS are recovering slowly with the current water balancing, but not to the extent that the situation is no longer critical. If the public does not use water sparingly, we will be forced to restrict water supply to areas on a rotational basis throughout the day. Consumers must reduce consumption.

We plead with the public to avoid using too much water, especially during peak times. Peak times are between 07h00 – 09h00 in the morning, 12h00 to 14h00 and 17h00 to 20h00.
We thank the members of the public who have been cooperating fully thus far, but without everyone’s help, the network will take even longer to stabilise.

The Civil Engineering Services Department will continue to monitor the reservoirs recovery until they are stable enough to reopen the full network.

PLEASE report EMERGENCIES ONLY to 044 801 9111 until Telkom can restore other lines.
