George on High Alert Following a Heavy Rainfall and Severe Thunderstorm Warning

The SA Weather report has warned of an intense Spring cut-off low that is expected to affect large parts of South Africa from Saturday to Tuesday. In reaction to this, George Municipality is prepared with a contingency plan consisting of integrated services to respond to predicted disruptive rain, severe thunderstorms and damaging waves.

The Municipality appeals to residents to be alert and cautious. If on the road, avoid flooded areas and rivers and be ready to move to higher ground, if necessary. Remember to keep pets safe. The public can purchase sandbags at Agri and sandbags can be filled at the Fire Department Mitchell Street.
