George Municipality honoured for EPWP excellence

George Municipality was honoured by the Provincial Department of Public Works for excellence in the achievement of the EPWP (Expanded Public Works Programme)Work Opportunity targets. George Municipality overperformed during the 2017/18 financial year in all three sectors where the EPWP are rolled out. These sectors are Infrastructure, Environmental and Social Community Safety. According to the statistics from the National EPWP Reporting System, George Municipality reached its targeted jobs of 1 013 during the financial year and exceeded the target by 418 work opportunities. Mayor Melvin Naik congratulated the officials involved in the successful rollout of the projects and said we can still improve on providing skills to people who are part of the programme.
