Disabled and able-bodied golfers to play together in charity golf day

Disabled and able-bodied golfers will play together in the first ever George Disability Awareness Charity Golf Day at Kingswood Golf Course on 11 February 2019.

George Municipality Director Community Services Walter Hendricks said the golf day would launch the Sport Development department’s disability awareness and disabled sport development projects for 2019.
“Organised in collaboration with disability non-profit organisation Oppie Bol Foundation, the golf day and other disability sport development projects are part of the municipality’s Accessibility to Sport programme. The programme aims to make sport facilities in George accessible to those living with disabilities and implementing sporting codes that enhance the quality of life for persons living with disabilities,” said Mr Hendricks.

Funds raised by the golf day will be used to cover the expenses of the day and pay for green fees of disabled golfers from previously disadvantaged communities in the George municipal area.

Players and businesses are invited to participate and sponsor holes for the four-ball alliance format competition. R2400 per four-ball includes green fees for four players, four goodie bags, four golf shirts, two golf carts, four halfway house passes, on-course entertainment and four tickets to the prize giving gala dinner.

Businesses can sponsor holes, including water holes, at R1000 each.

Player and sponsor bookings can be made to:
David Hendricks (Oppie Bol) at 076 105 4577 or oppiebol@gmail.com
Jonique Claasen-Gozongo (Sport Development) at 073 311 8343 or jjgozongo@george.gov.za

FNB Account Name: Oppie Bol Foundation (NPO Number: 171322), Account Number: 626 560 635 07, Branch 210240. Please use player name or business name as booking reference.
