CALEDON STREET UPGRADE

UPDATE 16th May 2019

Issued by George Municipality

The Left-Hand Side of the road between Porter Street and the railway crossing that has failures will be repaired starting on today, 16th May.  For approximately a week the area will be subject to one-way traffic with stop and go signals in place.

Temporary access to Porter Street will be provided via a detour so residents are please to travel with caution.

Once the BTB layer is complete (all the repairs complete) the final asphalt layer for the whole road will be started.  Dates and traffic flow will be advised once this work is due to commence.

Work will be continuing on the sidewalks.

Please note:

  • Caledon Street is still a construction site and as such, the road, manholes and kerb levels will still be different.  Please exercise care and caution during this time.
  • Please respect the road signs that are put in place for the safety of all road users.
  • The contractor has experienced vandalism of his signage in the past.  Should you witness vandalism of any kind, please contact us so that we can take the necessary action.
  • We urge residents and business owners to please proceed with caution during the roadworks.

Your continued support and patience is appreciated during this time.
